BYS Cosmetics Review ♡ Contour Sticks and Conceal & Correct Palette
Wednesday, March 23, 2016Hi Everyone!
I'm back with another review today. This time, on the drugstore brand BYS which hasn't grabbed a lot of attention in the social media world compared to other affordable makeup brands.
Recently I purchased the contour and bronze sticks and also the conceal & correct palette. Firstly, you can mainly purchase this brand from Cosmetics Plus here in Australia, or you can shop online at fashion addict.com.au. I paid $6.95 for the contour sticks, and $8.95 for the conceal palette (from cosmetics plus).
Now lets be honest... If you're purchasing products for this price you really aren't expecting it to WOW you and you probably aren't expecting great results...
... howeverrrrrrrr I was extremely surprised to find that these products work a dream on my face!
Firstly, the contour sticks are extremely creamy and easy to apply and they blend out so natural. If you want a fierce counter, you do have to build it up, however it doesn't look cakey which is great! Even though the contour and bronze sticks come in only one shade, they suit my skin tone (pale) and they don't look too orange/brown/grey. They honestly look very natural once blended and they stay creamy when you're blending- they don't go stale or sink into your face quickly. Although these products work well for me, the actual product keeps falling out of the tube which becomes annoying, so I always have to push it back in. That is quite a minor detail however.
In terms of the conceal & correct palette, it is also fantastic! I mainly use the purple, green and yellow shades in the palette, however it also comes with the beige colours for general concealing or contouring. If you're familiar with colour correcting, you may have heard of the colour wheel - purple corrects yellow and orange tones on the skin, green corrects red and red-orange tones, yellow corrects purple, and so on. I do get a bit of redness around my chin from blemishes, and under my eyes I get purple bags and in the corners of my eyes, they become quite yellow sometimes from tiredness. I use these main three colours (purple, green and yellow) to cover any imperfections and it gives me the most perfect base to apply my foundation. The colours in the palette are very pigmented, however not too pigmented that they apply like a mess! The shades are exactly correct to cover specific colours, and they blend out really well.
If there is a day where I look tired and Im having a bad skin day, all I do is just do some colour correcting on my face, then apply my foundation and concealer, and you wouldn't even know how I looked before I applied the makeup hahaha!
I didn't expect much from these cheap products and I have never really tried BYS before, however I suggest if you want to try out contouring or colour correcting on a budget or practice your technique, then I highly suggest you try these products! I am super impressed and I will contour to use them :)
Hope you learnt something!
Xoxo
