I have recently perfected how to 'bake my face'. This term is used to refer to setting cream products and to intensely highlight specific areas of the face, and to hopefully prevent creasing. I thought I would do a simple blogpost sharing this with you all!
Firstly, I apply my base- which includes my foundation with a stippling brush and under eye concealer, which is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory, with a flat brush to get in the little corners and right under the lash line. I then dampen my Real Techniques sponge (you should hold the sponge under water for approx 30 seconds and then continually squeeze the sponge until there is no excess water left, however the sponge should grow to be big and squishy!) and dab it under my eye repeatedly to get rid of excess product and to set it down nicely. I then take this same sponge and dip it in my Rimmel True Match translucent loose powder and apply a nice thick layer of powder under my eyes in an upside-down triangle shape.
Whilst this is setting my cream product under my eye or 'baking', I go ahead and do my eyebrows, set my face and apply mascara etc. I then get a big fluffy brush and swipe away the translucent powder in a sideways motion. After this is done, you should see a smooth base where you applied the concealer and powder. It should look bright and correctly set! Are we done? NOT YET!
If you want to be as close to crease-free as possible throughout the entire day, then follow through with a yellow powder. I use the one from the Australis AC ON TOUR contour kit! I dip a dome-shaped dense brush in the powder and VERY LIGHTLY dab the area (not swiping as this will disturb the products or potentially get rid of some of the product) around the eye in an upside down triangle shape. After doing this, your under eye area should look even better! Correctly set and very bright. This also helps you to look more awake on days where you're not feeling up to leaving the house, when you're tired and have to go to work or school or university, or you're sick and have to run errands but you want to look well presented!
It seems like a lot of steps just to prevent creasing, however it really doesn't take much time, especially once you get used to it. Let me know if this routine works for you, or your own personal baking routine :) i'd love to see some of yours!!
